Good morning, loves!
I am so happy to have a few minutes to sit down and have a cup of virtual coffee and catch up with you this morning.
Aside from having set big goals for the year and for the month, I decided that I wanted to have set morning and evening routines because when I took some time to reflect on 2015, I realized that I rarely have time to just sit and have quiet time anymore.
It had been ages since I had sat down to write in my journal, and I don’t have nearly the time I’d like to read. So I’m in transition.
I’ll be the first to admit that I love my sleep, and it’s a key part of staying healthy. However, I’ve recognized that I will get some of these little pleasures done if I get up earlier…so I’m transitioning my bed time and wake up to allow more quiet time in the mornings.
This has be TOUGH, especially since the weather turned cold this week, and the bed is so snuggly and warm. Roscoe agrees.
That being said, I HAVE been getting up a little earlier to read and write in my journal before I get ready for work.
As far as my evening routine goes, I’ve set an alarm on my phone for 9:45 each evening. It’s to remind me that I was to be offline by 10. I’ve also brought laying my clothes out each night before I climb into bed. These two tweaks have helped me to find time to read before I go to sleep.
I’m currently reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo after hearing about it on several Periscope broadcasts. I think this book will be the push that I need to finally get our home decluttered and organized. I’m so excited.
By the way, do you prefer paper books or digital book? I love paper books, but the portability of my kindle is really appealing and saves so much space in our home.
Moving on, there is a tenant moving into the apartment upstairs from my office. She is the daughter of some friends and a really sweet girl, but it’s strange getting used to sharing my space. Little things keep throwing me off, like pulling up and finding my normal parking spot occupied or seeing lights on in windows that are normally dark.
However all the activity at the building has prompted me to do some New Years cleaning in the building. I’ve emptied drawers of files that can now be shredded and rearranged furniture in the back office space, which will eventually be my new workspace.
The Mister has painted the window casing back there and will install new curtains for me this week. We also plan to hang my pictures that never made it on the walls after the move. I hope this new energy will bring blessings in 2016 and that I’ll finally be able to hire an assistant.
So that’s what’s been going on around here this week. Thanks for joining me for some virtual coffee. I hope you enjoyed our chat.
Do you have changes happening around your home or office with the start of the new year? What has been going on in your life this week?
