October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This is no surprise to most of us in the blogging world. After all most of us are women. So we’re aware of the disease. We do our self-exams and some of us get mammograms.
Many of us have been involved in some sort of campaign to raise awareness or participated in an event to fundraise toward treating and curing the disease.
And we all know someone who has been touched by breast cancer.
If you’ve been reading my blog a while, you know this isn’t the first time I’ve written about supporting this particular cause. After all, I did meet up with Janna and Amy last year for the 3 Day in Washington DC.

What I haven’t shared is that in the last twelve months two women that I’ve known personally have passed away as a result of breast cancer that spread. They fought the disease, but unfortunately, they lost.
So this year, I’ve been trying to educate myself more. Example, last week I learned from the manager of a local imaging facility that they have recently found and diagnosed a lump that a woman found in her armpit. I didn’t know that there could be breast tissue there. Nor had I ever given much thought to the idea of men getting breast cancer.
I also try to purchase items that give proceeds back to breast cancer research, and here’s where the giveaway comes in. I recently purchased one of these beautiful iPhone cases from uncommon, and thought, “This would make a really good giveway item.”
So, that’s what I’m going to do. I’m offering up a Pinktober goodie box that includes your choice of the uncommon Protect with Pink iPhone 4/4S cases (other phones aren’t available for these designs, sorry.), Stila Positively Pink lipgloss/blush set and other pink goodies which support breast cancer research that I’ll be purchasing throughout the week.

UPDATE: If I can find them this weekend, I’ll be adding a bottle from the Essie Raise Awareness collection.
The giveaway will run one week; I’ll announce the winner next Monday on the blog. You can enter below. This giveaway is open to U.S. Residents only.
Disclaimer: I was not sponsored or compensated in any for this giveaway; there is no business relationship between this blog and uncommon, Stila or any breast cancer research foundation. I just support the cause. All products were purchased personally.
