Happy Monday, everyone!

I hope y’all had a great weekend.

We spent our Saturday morning in black belt class. One of my buddies in the dojo is testing for his black belt next month, so I got to be his partner (as in he did the techniques on me) as we ran through the lists of everything he needs for his exam. We call this being the uke.

It was intense (and a little scary) because I got to uke for technique I didn’t know yet. It was an exercise in trust for me, but I walked away with just a few new bruises.

The Mister is also testing next month; he’s up for his fourth degree black belt, which is way above my pay grade. We took video of him throwing me last week during class though, but YouTube won’t play nicely and let me upload it.

Saturday afternoon, we headed to a party to celebrate a friend turning 65. And then I listened to the rest of the football game on the radio; unfortunately, my Gamecocks lost. This doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.

Yesterday, we started the Dave Ramsey course at church and attended church for the first time pretty much since the summer began. It’s left me in a contemplative mood, evaluating what’s important in my life. I have a few post ideas in the works in regard to this, but they need more time to marinate.

In the meantime, I’m going to ask y’all to share one budgeting tip that works for your household. [Want one of ours? Check out how I save money on grocery shopping.]

I wrapped the weekend up by hosting a Let’s Get Crafty night for the ladies. I’m a bad blogger because the only photo I have is of the food just before they came over.

After last’s week’s short work week, I knew coming back for a full week was going to be that much more difficult because there’s a lot of the schedule this week. I was looking for a peppy song to pick me up today for Musical Monday.

This song from Panic! At the Disco makes me want to dance. It would probably go great in a running mix as well.

my life started the day i got caught
under the covers
with second hand lovers
oh tied up in pretty young things
in a state of emergency
who was i trying to be
then the time for being sad is over
and you miss em like you miss no other
and being blue is better than being over it

all you sinners stand up sing hallelujah
show praise with your body stand up sing hallelujah
if you can’t stop shaking lean back let it move right through ya
say your prayers
say your prayers
say your prayers

i was drunk and it didn’t mean a thing
stop thinking about
the bullets from my mouth
i love the things you hate about yourself
just finished a daydream
who were you trying to be
then the time for being sad is over
and you miss em like you miss no other
and being blue is better than being over it

No one wants you when you have no heart and
I’m sitting pretty in my brand new scars and
You’ll never know if you don’t ever try again
So let’s try
Let’s try
Let’s try
