Friday was our last full day in San Francisco, and we’d contacted some family and friends who lived in the metro area to try to connect with them before flying back to the east coast.

We got up that morning and jumped on the BART to head out to San Jose. My cousin Wade lives out there, and we went to lunch with his family. I was amazed to see how grown up his boys were.

Then we went to Oakland, where the Mister had a friend from high school. They took us a to a tiki bar for happy hour and then we went out for a New Year’s Eve dinner at a local Thai place.

Once we got back in downtown San Francisco, we walked around Union Square one last time before heading back to the hotel to pack up. We decided not to go out for New Years since our flight was so early the next day. Instead we watched the ball drop East Coast time and went to bed.
