Happy day, my friends!

This weekend happens to be one of my very favorite holiday weekends. Not because of turkey and pumpkin pie – though I do enjoy those. Not because of shopping – I haven’t been out on Black Friday in years.

This is the weekend of our neighborhood Christmas tree fundraiser. For more than 40 years, our neighborhood has been selling trees that are set up in the front yard with white lights and red bows, and distribution of the trees happens on Thanksgiving weekend. For the last few years, I’ve had the pleasure of chairing this project for our neighborhood, and I absolutely love this project.

I get a lot of joy from being outside in the sunshine, helping neighbors pick out and load their trees. We have chili, music and lots of football trash talking. And every year, I make at least one new friend.
