Handmade with a Purpose

This morning I read about Handmade with a Purpose at From the Aisle to Aloha. The concept behind the movement is that handmade shops donate the proceeds from selected items to a charity of their choice. The event will last through the month of April.

Lindsay is a fantastic artist in Hawaii, and she is donating the proceeds from this painting to Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic. While I don’t classify myself as pro-life, I am a big supporter of women’s rights. I’m in support of institutions that provide knowledge and resources to women to make informed decisions regarding their futures.
I’ve been loving the items in Lindsay’s etsy shop for a while, but I particularly loved the painting she chose for this cause, which is called Mama Bird. So I made it my first purchase from her shop a few minutes ago.
There are many other items and causes being supported through  Handmade with a Purpose, including animal rescue and protection, autism, breast cancer research, the Special Olympics and the American Red Cross’s relief efforts in Japan.
I hope that you will take a few minutes to browse the shops participating in Handmade with a Purpose and, hopefully, find a cause that you believe in to support.
