A moment of silence

This morning when I got online, I was stunned to learn that a friend had been shot and killed in his home yesterday morning. I’ve sitting in my office in shock, just trying to process that someone whom I was laughing and making dinner plans with just last week at a party is now no longer with us. The Mister and I were supposed to have this friend over for dinner tomorrow. And no one had any way of knowing, so goodbye wasn’t even an option.
I just can’t believe this has happened. It’s easy to say that life is short and to treasure it, but it’s also easy to lose sight of that. Things like this are sharp reminder.
